Teen Programs for March and April 2009

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Most Young Adult programs require registration. Please feel free to spread the word and bring a friend – and be sure to sign up your friend, too! PERFORM AT THE LIBRARY
Have a show, but need a mid-sized, local performance space? The Library is looking for teen actors, musicians, poets, and other performers to perform for the public in the Dierkes Community Room, which seats about 100. Perfect venue for acoustic musical performance, chamber strings, vocal groups, poetry readings, and minimalist theater. If you would like your group to be considered, call Noël or email her at zethmayrn@lagrangelibrary.org.

TEEN TUESDAY FILMS AT THE LIBRARY
Tuesdays, March 10 and April 14, 7 – 8:45 p.m.

When his band votes him out due to his embarrassing musical antics, Dewey (Jack Black) has to make the rent somehow. We’ll see how he pulls off substitute teaching in School of Rock (Rated PG-13). In April, we’ll venture into the depths of the Amazon jungle to seek The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Free popcorn, drinks, and concession candy will be served. Don’t forget to register!

BABYSITTING CLINIC
Monday, March 23, 4 - 6:30 pm and Monday, March 30, 4 – 5:30 pm

Instructor George Scukanec from the Willowbrook Park District will be your guide through this 4-hour, hands-on clinic, covering baby and child care, first aid, and babysitter training. If you attend both sessions, you will receive your official Babysitting Certification at the end of the second class! Cost: $10.00, payable at registration. Open to ages 11-15. Registration, in person, is limited to 16 and ends March 15.

TEEN FANTASY BOOK CLUB
Sundays, March 15 and April 19, 2 - 3 p.m.

Our Teen Fantasy Book Club meets one Sunday every month. In March, join us for a discussion of Mister Monday by Garth Nix. In April, we’ll turn to Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. Come discuss great fantasy books with your friends while enjoying some tasty snacks! Copies of Mister Monday will be available for checkout at the Patron Services desk beginning February 15. Don’t forget to register!

Yes, it’s snowy now, but the golf season is just around the corner, and caddying is a great way to make a few bucks! We welcome back instructor Larry Regan, a long-time caddy who has caddied at Butler National, Medinah, and La Grange Country Club. Three 1 ½ hour classes will illustrate the rules, etiquette, and strategies of golf for prospective country club caddying. Don’t forget to register for this FREE program!
