In February, we’ll discuss Flipped by Wendelin van Draanen, which is a comedy, told by two very different people, about love, being true to yourself, and chickens. We’ll meet in the comfy confines of our new YA room for lively discussion and tasty snacks. The books are available for checkout at the Patron Services desk. Registration, beginning January 2, is required: Register in person, or call Noël at 352-0576 x 35, or AIM us at lgpublib.
DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY IN THE NEW YEAR

Sunday, February 17, 2-3 pm
Dumbledore’s Army is the YA Fantasy Fiction & Quidditch Club! Discover and talk about the latest fantasy books, films, and TV shows. We’ll also write some of our own fantasy fiction and play indoor quidditch -- no previous flying experience required.
January book discussion: The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud
This tantalizing tale about a young, underestimated magician takes a lot of Harry Potter-like story elements and stands them on their heads. An indoor quidditch game follows the discussion: Hufflepuff v. Slytherin! We’ll also brainstorm ideas for the rest of the year.
February book discussion: The New Policeman by Kate Thompson
Fans of Artemis Fowl will love this new fantasy novel about an Irish teenager who attempts to repair a cosmic time leak. Our quidditch match follows the discussion: Gryffindor v. the January winner. Special guest announcers will make this match especially fun!
Tea, hot chocolate, and treats will be served at each meeting.
Registration, beginning January 2, is required: Register in person, or call Noël at 352-0576 x 35, or AIM us at lgpublib.
