Friday, June 29, 7:30 pm
Friday, July 13, 7:30 pm

School was never like this! Three cinema events will be screened drive-in style -- outside on the library wall! Pack a cooler with popsicles, sodas, slurpees, iced chai, etc.
Bring a lawn chair, sleeping bag, inflatable raft, or whatever you want to sit on...
Invite a group of friends and have a blast watching WALL-SIZED movies in the cool of the summer evening.

A retro concession stand with free popcorn will be open before and during the show.

Friday, June 15: American Graffiti by Star Wars director George Lucas
Based on Lucas’s teenage years in California, American Graffiti is the story of four teens on their last summer night before college. There’s a great early rock and roll soundtrack, plus Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) in his first major role — as a hot rod racer!

A special pre-show screening will pay tribute to the renowned Canyon Cinema series of wildly experimental films that inspired the young George Lucas. We’ll show several of these shorts, and we guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it!

Friday, June 29: The Frighteners by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson
The Frighteners is a wicked comedy thriller starring Michael J. Fox as a small town ghostbuster who’s actually a psychic con man in league with the spirits he’s supposed to be excorcising.

The film was expected to receive PG-13 rating, but unfairly received an R-rating. Here’s your chance to see this overlooked film with wonderful special effects created by Weta Workshop.
A short special feature before the film shows how The Frighteners paved the way for the FX innovations of Lord of the Rings.

Friday, July 13: SPECIAL FRIDAY THE 13TH PREMIERE EVENT
Late Afternoon of the Living Dead
by Chicago area director Jason Huls
Jason Huls is a talented young filmmaker who lives in Chicago and has generously agreed to a free showing of his new film. Jason will attend the screening and bring along some of his cast and crew to talk about making the movie. Appropriately, the film is about a librarian who survives an attack by the undead and goes from Dewey Decimal guru to zombie slaying machine with the help of a lethargic ghost named Shelton.
