TEEN BOOK DISCUSSIONS
Thursday, September 21 and Thursday, October 19, 4:00-5:30 pm
The teen book discussions continue in September with Flipped by Wendelin van Draanen, a clever story told from two (very different) points of view. In October, we’ll discuss Rodman Philbrick’s The Last Book in the Universe, a futuristic look at a grim America where reading has gone way out of style. Please join us for snacks and thought-provoking discussion! Register in the YA Department beginning August 22.

BANNED BOOKS WEEK
September 17 through October 8
Fight for it! Demonstrate it! Celebrate it! Demand it! For decades, librarians and other intelligent readers have fought hard to preserve your right to read whatever books you choose – and the fight still goes on! Demonstrate your commitment to an open-minded America by reading a banned book during our three-week celebration, and enter to win a button or a T-shirt that tells the world how you feel. Look for displays and entry forms in the Young Adult and Reference Departments. Use your freedom to choose!

TEEN READ WEEK
October 15 through 21
How do you live an active life? Is it through sports? Volunteering? Community groups? Share your ideas during this year’s Teen Read Week: Get active @ Your Library! Check out the display during this week near the Young Adult desk to find some cool ways to get active, and enter to win a great prize while you’re at it!
